Every month the Albany Library hosts a special evening dedicated to listening to poetry. Held on the first Thursday, this event includes a featured poet followed by an open mic.

December’s poet is Peter Dale Scott. Former Canadian diplomat and English professor at U.C. Berkeley, where he co-founded the Peace and Conflict Studies Program, Peter Dale Scott’s most recent publication is The Road to 9/11: Wealth, Empire, and the Future of America (University of California Press, 2007). Author of five poetry books, Scott won a Lannan Poetry Award. He also translated, with Czeslaw Milosz, works by the Polish poet Zbigniew Herbert. Robert Hass calls the title poem of Scott’s trilogy, Seculum: Coming to Jakarta, “the most important political poem to appear in the English language in a very long time.” Scott will read published and new poems.

This evening starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. We welcome all who enjoy the opportunity to share the love of poetry with others. Questions? Email to jwinkelstein@aclibrary.org
