Come help us celebrate the opening of the photography show, “Albany at 100, ” a celebration of life in Albany during its centennial year. A reception will be held on Sunday, September 21, 4 – 6 PM, in the lobby of the Albany Library & Community Center building.
As part of the City of Albany’s centennial celebration, the Albany Library, with the help of local photographer Dorothy Brown, conducted a year-long project to document the people, places, and events of Albany. 100 photographs from this project will be added to the library’s historical collection, so that future generations will be able to see what it was like to live in Albany in 2008 – the year of its 100th birthday.
18 photographs are exhibited in the lobby gallery, and all 100 will be on display in binders.
Albany at 100 was conceived and coordinated by Reference Librarian Richard Russo. The project was co-sponsored by the Albany Library and the Albany Historical Society, with the generous support of the Friends of the Albany Library. All photos are by Dorothy Brown.
